The narrative explores Christina, a 1700s Spanish teacher whose student died tragically for her. Princess Tina of Girishia first encounters Soran, a half-human, half-machine being, when she is lost in the woods as a child. Years later, Tina is nearly 16 and preparing to marry nobleman Sesu, but she falls in love with Soran instead. Simultaneously, her uncle Georca plots to overthrow the king. The Children also begin their fateful work on reincarnation during this period of political intrigue and romantic conflict.
