Oct 5, 2004A man predicts an apocalypse while viewing photos of the ageless Befort Children. The narrative follows these albinos through history, showing failed recruitment of Conrad in Holland and a late arrival for Serafine in the South Eastern Islands. Mel suffers amnesia and is captured by Duma, while others escape. In 2012, martial artist Toma encounters a silent girl named Helga on a statue. After visiting his fortune-teller mother and assisting a thief named Chit, Toma returns home to find Helga abducted by mysterious men.

The group splits; some seek Serafine's reincarnation, others aim to find Mel and Palza to return their memories. Helga and Chit escape Chikao again. Thoma suffers nightmares about Helga. Eventually, the Children, Helga, and Chit board the same train to the mainland, leaving Thoma with lingering doubts.
