Members of Mithril's Special Response Team, including Sousuke Sagara, Kurz Weber, and Melissa Mao, are tasked with safeguarding Kaname Chidori from terrorist threats. Due to his age and Japanese background, Sousuke assumes the identity of a student at Kaname's school, Jindai High, to maintain close proximity. His unconventional behavior and speech patterns lead Kaname to perceive him as strange, although she acknowledges his intriguing nature during a telephone conversation. This undercover assignment places the military operative in a civilian educational environment while balancing his protective duties against external dangers targeting Kaname.
