Ep. 1: Inori Yuzuriha escapes GHQ pursuers, leading Shu Ouma to gain the Power of Kings

Inori Yuzuriha flees GHQ agents while carrying a vial containing the Void Genome, eventually falling from a bridge after her robotic storage device is destroyed. Shu Ouma, a socially awkward seventeen-year-old living in Japan under GHQ control since the Apocalypse Virus outbreak ten years prior, finds the injured Inori, who is also known as the internet singer for the band Egoist. After Shu tends to her wounds, GHQ Anti Bodies led by Major Guin capture her. To make amends, Shu delivers the Void Genome to Gai Tsutsugami, leader of the Funeral Parlor resistance group. Major Guin orders the extermination of Roppongi residents to locate the item. During the ensuing battle, Shu protects Inori from an attacking Endlave mech, which shatters the vial. This event grants Shu the Power of Kings, allowing him to extract Inori's Void and destroy the enemy mechs.
