Ep. 9: Kaoru reflects on his jealousy while Hagu faces potential permanent sensory loss

Kaoru discusses his jealousy of Morita, who questions his feelings. Professor Hanamoto informs Takemoto and Yamada that Hagu has waited a long time for sensation to return to her right hand, which remained numb after surgery. He warns that she may suffer permanent sensory impairment and might never paint again. Yamada expresses a desire for a cell phone to contact Hagu during her hospital stay and sews her a sweater before visiting. The professor consults a physical therapist about massaging Hagu’s stiff upper body. Takemoto and Yamada pick flowers in a garden to visit her again. Although Hanamoto suggests Hagu’s sensation will improve over time, he advises the students to focus on their own lives rather than hers. Takemoto struggles with the decision to help Hagu recover or leave her after graduation, fearing her continued pain.
