Ep. 30: Mustang's Past, Ishvalan War Crimes, and Scar's Vengeance

Flashbacks reveal Berthold Hawkeye’s dying request for Mustang to protect his daughter Riza, whose back bears his alchemy research. In the present, Edward returns Riza’s gun, citing his moral struggle with killing. The narrative shifts to the Ishvalan War, where Bradley authorized the extermination seven years prior, traumatizing soldiers like Hughes and Mustang despite Kimblee’s cruelty. Marcoh confesses to Scar that Ishvalans were used to create the philosopher’s stone for state alchemists. The Ishvalan leader’s plea for mercy was rejected by Bradley. After the war, Mustang vowed to become Führer to protect citizens, appointing Riza as his second-in-command. She warns Edward that they may face punishment for their wartime crimes. Meanwhile, Envy discovers Marcoh’s beheaded body and the word vengeance written in blood.
