Motivated by a desire to be useful and concern for the injured Sannan, Chizuru integrates into Shinsengumi society. She secures permission to accompany regular patrols while continuing her search for her father. Pursuing a lead, she encounters the Shinsengumi's enemies directly. During the ensuing conflict, the Shinsengumi discover a Choushuu plot targeting Kyoto and the Emperor.
