EP 1Chizuru Yukimura seeks her missing father in Kyoto while hiding from ronin and Rasetsu.
Apr 4, 2010Disguised as a boy, Chizuru Yukimura travels to Kyoto to find her missing father. While evading ronin, she is attacked by Rasetsu, also known as furies. Shinsengumi members intervene and defeat the furies before they can harm her. At the Shinsengumi headquarters, Chizuru Yukimura reveals her identity and her reason for being in Kyoto. The Shinsengumi permit her to reside at their headquarters because they are also searching for her father. This arrangement allows her to stay safely while the group continues their investigation into her father's whereabouts.

Meanwhile, Sannan, discontented with his ability to contribute, continues research on "that medicine" in a dangerous way.

During a patrol, she and the soldiers rescue a young woman who resembles Chizuru and continues to dress as a boy. Subsequently, the Shinsengumi assume guard duty for the Shōgun’s visit. Three strangers identifying themselves as "Oni" attempt to kidnap Chizuru during this period. The group works to protect her amidst the heightened security and the mysterious actions of these intruders.

May 30, 2010Itou attempts to fracture the Shinsengumi after discovering Sannan is alive. Chizuru conceals her ability to heal quickly from an ochimizu-maddened soldier. Sen-hime and her kunoichi Kimigiku arrive at the Shinsengumi headquarters to take Chizuru to safety. Sen-hime claims descent from an ancient oni bloodline and forces Chizuru to admit her own oni status. The Rasetsu Squad activates when Kazama tries to kidnap Chizuru again. Hijikata fights Kazama to protect her. Kazama disarms Hijikata, but Chizuru jumps in front of him with her sword to save him. Kazama departs, revealing Chizuru’s love for Hijikata.
EP 10Shinsengumi confronts Itou's plot while Souji faces a Rasetsu transformation offer
Jun 6, 2010The Shinsengumi discovers Itou’s assassination plan against Commander Kondou and moves to his compound despite safety concerns for Heisuke. Following Itou’s death, Saito and Chizuru convince Heisuke to join them against Itou’s forces. Meanwhile, Souji, weakened by tuberculosis, meets Kaoru, who reveals his identity and offers medicine to become a Rasetsu. At the compound, Shinsengumi troops are surrounded by Itou’s men, Shiranui, and Amagiri. Heisuke fights Amagiri and suffers a brutal attack during the confrontation.
EP 11Heisuke and Souji become Rasetsu after drinking Ochimizu to save Kondou.
Jun 13, 2010Following a severe defeat, Heisuke consumes Ochimizu and transforms into a Rasetsu. An assassination attempt leaves Commander Kondou in critical condition. Seeking vengeance for Kondou, Souji drinks the Ochimizu provided by Kaoru, also becoming a Rasetsu. Kaoru appears to reveal that the potion will not cure Souji's tuberculosis and explains his hatred for Chizuru. During the subsequent conflict, Souji eliminates Kondou's attackers but suffers heavy gunshot wounds. With both Souji and Kondou near death, Hijikata transports them to Osaka Castle for medical treatment from Doctor Matsumoto.
EP 12Shinsengumi clash with imperialists at Toba-Fushimi while Hijikata transforms into a Rasetsu.
Jun 20, 2010The Boshin War erupts between the Shinsengumi and imperialist forces during the Battle of Toba-Fushimi. Inoue is killed in front of Chizuru, and Kazama eliminates his murderers. Hijikata attacks Kazama, assuming he is responsible, and consumes Ochimizu to become a Rasetsu for combat advantage. Yamazaki intervenes to stop the fight but suffers severe injuries. Amagiri arrives to extract Kazama, ending the conflict. The Shinsengumi bury Inoue before sailing to Edo. Yamazaki dies from his wounds during the voyage and is laid to rest at sea.
