Han ye Deng Zhu

Winter, sometime in the future, when journeys into space have become routine. A film studio that once flourished is sliding into bankruptcy, its vast lot of sets stretching from the Great Sphinx of Giza to the Forbidden City buried under snow and drained of glamour. Zha works there as a solitary janitor, keeping company with a cat that used to appear on camera; short of cash, the owner hands him a VR headset in lieu of wages, and Zha falls into a virtual romance with a woman who proposes they travel to the moon together. The doomed studio gets a brief reprieve when a crew arrives to film an alien invasion picture, with the demolition of the lot itself scheduled as the movie's climactic destruction.
