Issei learns during a date with Asia that she was once an excommunicated nun from the Church. He promises to remain her friend despite his devil nature, but Raynare interrupts and abducts Asia. Rias later explains the pawn ability called Promotion before departing with Akeno, leaving a note warning that the Church is hostile territory. Remembering Raynare’s mention of a ritual involving Asia that night, Issei resolves to rescue her. Kiba and Koneko follow him after understanding Rias’s message. The trio storms the sanctuary and defeats Freed. Issei discovers Asia chained to a cross while Raynare prepares to complete the ritual.
