The Occult Research Club dines at the Gremory residence with Rias' family, where Asia and Xenovia join Issei in bed due to discomfort with the luxury. Azazel initiates a 20-day training session the next day, pairing Issei with Tannin, a reincarnated former Dragon King. Despite the training, Issei cannot activate his Balance Breaker, prompting Azazel to suggest a catalyst is needed. That evening, the group attends a gathering of major underworld families. Issei visits Koneko, discovering her concealed Anthropomorphic features, while Rias explains her Youkai identity and past. At the party, Issei identifies Sairaorg Bael and meets Ravel Phoenix, who introduces herself as a free bishop piece. Koneko abruptly leaves, leading Issei and Rias to find her in the forest where she reunites with her sister Kuroka, who killed their master Sir Zechs and went missing.
