Having escaped the repeating tragedies of June 1983, Rika dies in a bicycle accident and awakens in an alternate Hinamizawa. This world differs significantly from previous loops: Keiichi, Takano, Irie, and Hanyuu are absent, and she lacks close friends, with Satoko being particularly hostile. The dam project threatening the town continues, and the usual series of disasters have not occurred, meaning Satoshi and her parents remain alive. Unlike her past experiences where she knew the outcome, Rika finds herself in a completely unfamiliar situation with no knowledge of how to proceed or what dangers lie ahead.
