Shu's rebels intercept a food convoy belonging to Souther, only to discover the supplies have been poisoned. Kenshiro eventually confronts Souther but must first defeat two assassins, Peji and Giji, who practice the Nanto Sozanken style. After overcoming these opponents, Ken engages the Holy Emperor directly. Although he lands what appear to be fatal strikes, Souther demonstrates immunity to Kenshiro's Hokuto Shinken techniques, leaving the outcome of their battle uncertain.
