While aboard the vessel, Mrs. Milligan extends an invitation for Remi to join her household as a permanent family member. However, Remi refuses this generous proposal. The young protagonist remains deeply devoted to Mr. Vitalis and is unwilling to abandon him. Consequently, Remi chooses to stay with his current guardian rather than accept the offer to relocate and live with Mrs. Milligan and her family on the ship.
