A Special Investigator with the unique ability to access an object's memories through touch, Makoto Midorikawa becomes entangled in a global conspiracy after examining an explosion at a lab. The conflict revolves around Exotic Matter, a substance with the potential to alter human destiny. Two opposing groups, the Resistance and the Enlightened, seek to control XM and reshape society according to their own agendas. Makoto is drawn into their struggle and must use his powers to uncover the truth behind XM and prevent it from being misused.
