Ep. 1: Kagome falls into a well and meets Inuyasha while fleeing a demon in feudal Japan.
Kagome Higurashi, a 15-year-old girl living in present day Japan, searches for her lost cat at her family shrine and discovers a demon named Mistress Centipede revived in the well. The demon drags Kagome down, transporting her to Feudal Japan. There, she meets Priestess Kaede, who identifies Kagome as the reincarnation of her deceased sister, the powerful priestess Kikyo. Mistress Centipede follows Kagome to the village, seeking the Shikon Jewel. Kagome encounters Inuyasha, a dog hanyō, nailed to a tree by arrows. Believing him dead, she removes the arrows, only to find him alive. Inuyasha explains he was imprisoned by Sacred Arrows until her release. He then uses his superhuman powers to defeat Mistress Centipede. During the battle, a jewel emerges from Kagome’s chest, which Kaede identifies as the Shikon Jewel and gives to Kagome as its rightful heir.
