Naoyuki saves Iriya at the pool and discovers her mysterious wrist caps before she transfers to his school.
Feb 25, 2005On the final day of summer vacation, Naoyuki visits his school pool after a forty-day trip with Kunihiro investigating the Sonohara base. There, he encounters Iriya, who falls into the shallow water while he assumes she is drowning. After rescuing her and treating a nosebleed, he teaches her to swim and notices silver circular caps on her wrists that she claims taste like electricity. A military siren interrupts them, and Enomoto orders Naoyuki to leave. As he passes through a military blockade, he receives a bug implanted in the upper-right part of his neck. The following day, Iriya arrives at school as a transfer student. During the opening ceremony, an air raid drill alarm sounds, causing Iriya to drag Naoyuki into a secured shelter, believing a real attack is imminent. Inside, after losing a game, Iriya collapses. While Naoyuki attempts to treat her, Shiina and others open the shelter, catching him in an awkward position.

Naoyuki and Iriya’s Date Interrupted by Kunihiro’s Surveillance Scheme
Mar 25, 2005Kunihiro commands Naoyuki to date Iriya, who waits four hours before their 10:00 meeting. They attend a 10:30 film where Iriya sleeps, while Kunihiro and Yuuko, along with Enomoto and his assistant, watch separately. Kunihiro discovers his listening device in Naoyuki’s wallet has been tapped and photographs Enomoto fleeing. The disturbance prompts Iriya to flee with Naoyuki. They discard the bug and evade pursuit by Kunihiro and Yuuko, who mistakenly view them as enemies. After escaping, they rest in a park, where Iriya shares a story about herself and four others investigating a crash site at the Nevada base. The following day, Naoyuki discovers Iriya’s newspaper club application inside his footlocker.

Newspaper club builds Sonohara base model while Iriya and Naoyuki prepare for the school festival dance
Apr 29, 2005The newspaper club constructs a painted wooden replica of the Sonohara base featuring a hovering UFO for the upcoming school festival. Prior to a new mission, Naoyuki inquires about Iriya’s preferences, prompting her to state she wishes to do whatever he is doing. Enomoto requests a promise from Naoyuki to perform the folk dance with Iriya. On the second day of the festival, Iriya contacts Naoyuki via a school phone, instructing him to meet her at Rokuban-yama Hill within the Self-Defense Force's old practice grounds at 18:45. She arrives piloting her Black Manta, and the two proceed to dance together at the designated time.

Suizenji Demands an Explanation After Kunihiro's Departure and Enomoto's Deterioration
Jun 3, 2005Kunihiro departs to investigate a fire at the Sonohara base, leaving traces of his exit. Akiho tasks Iriya with gathering news club information to avoid burdening Naoyuki before her call to Enomoto. Naoyuki and three friends engage in a food competition featuring the Strong Man's Set Meal to demonstrate affection for him. Later, Enomoto arrives at Akiho's house, furious about being ignored at noon. She returns to school the next day with platinum-blonde hair and extreme frailty. Her vision fails, and she begins vomiting blood in the school clocktower. Shiina saves her by inserting five syringes into her body. Upon discovering she keeps his belongings as charms, Naoyuki questions Iriya's situation, resulting in a beating from Shiina. After healing, Naoyuki and Iriya plan to flee Enomoto, removing a tracking device from his neck to begin their escape.

Iriya and Naoyuki seek shelter at Narimasu Elementary School while fleeing south.
Jun 24, 2005After two days of fleeing south, Iriya and Naoyuki find shelter in the Narimasu Elementary School where Iriya decides to adopt a cat who she names Kouchou. The next day, while Naoyuki is heading over to a convenience store to buy food and supplies, a ragged man goes to Narimasu Elementary after hearing of a rumour of white haired girl there at appearing night from workers at the same convenience store. Iriya fends him off failing to kill him, slashing his leg before he violates her, causing him to faint due to blood loss as he calls the police. As they run away in the rain, Naoyuki breaks from stress and orders Iriya to never show her face in front of him again. From the shock, Iriya slashes him and breaks. She loses her sense of the present and begins associating Naoyuki's face with that of different people that she has met. In order to take care of her, he decides to take her to his grandparents place. Due to her deluded state, Naoyuki finds out about her feelings for him, after which, she collapses. Bringing her to his grandparents place, he finds Enomoto waiting for him.

Iriya's Sky, Summer of the UFOs
Jul 29, 2005Enomoto treats Iriya’s illness and reveals the secret war’s final battle occurs on October 26. Naoyuki isolates himself at home until Enomoto’s helicopter retrieves him for school. He convinces Iriya to fight despite his wishes, easing her fears after he confessed his feelings. In the epilogue, Shiina writes a letter detailing Iriya’s past hardships and the military’s subsequent involvement. Kunihiro returns from investigating the Sonohara base without his memories of its secrets. The story concludes with Naoyuki cutting a Mysterious Circle into a grass field, marking the end of these events.
