Kotoko, a student from the lowly F-Class, harbors feelings for Irie, the top-ranked student in A-Class. After years of hesitation, she gathers the courage to confess, but he bluntly rejects her, claiming to hate stupid girls and admitting he never read her letter. Shortly after, an earthquake strikes Tokyo, damaging only her home. A friend of her father offers assistance, leading to an unexpected situation where Kotoko ends up living at Irie's house. This series of events forces the two students into close proximity despite their previous interactions and the initial rejection.
