Kotoko falls asleep holding a confession letter, which Irie reads after entering her room. At the school sports festival, the two compete in a relay race. Irie crosses the finish line just as Kotoko is pushed and run over. Kin becomes angry while Irie carries her to the nurse. Irie recites the letter, but Kotoko slaps him before he reaches the part where she admits her love. Kin then enters to boast about his feelings for Kotoko. Irie responds that feelings can change, noting that someone you hate might become someone you love.
