As the New Year approaches in Jewel Land, Ruby and her friends prepare for celebrations but are reminded by Garnet to clean the cafe and open Christmas presents. After cleaning, they discover huge amounts of unused food from the past year, which the pets prepare for Chiari and others. Sakuran arrives with sweets, including a roll cake featuring the Master's image. Ruby and Chiari visit the male dorm to see Kosuke and Taira making mochi, where Ruby accidentally uses magic to rain down prepared mochi. At the Girl's Dormitory, they inform Sango about Sakuran's preparations, while Marie, Nobara, and Mutsumi overhear and hope to obtain a magic gem. The group celebrates at the cafe with karaoke, singing "Hikari no Hate Ni," and discusses New Year's resolutions and their shared goal of collecting all Magic Gems. Marie feels isolated for lacking a gem, but her friends cheer her up. Garnet and Sapphie brainstorm cafe ideas, but Ruby's attempt to use magic backfires, causing humans to lose memories of Jewelpets and Sweetspets, prompting Ruby to find a solution.
