Struggling academically, Misaki Takahashi receives tutoring from his brother’s eccentric friend, author Akihiko Usami. During a session, Misaki finds a romance novel featuring Usami and Takahiro, leading to initial friction. As his grades improve, Misaki gains sympathy for Usami’s unrequited feelings for Takahiro. Following Takahiro’s engagement and subsequent relocation to Osaka with his wife, Misaki moves into Usami’s residence. In exchange for performing household chores like cooking, cleaning, and laundry, the two share meals and gradually develop a familial bond, with Usami viewing their arrangement as a family unit.
