During this pilgrimage, Taiki encounters Risai, a general with whom he connects and who is accompanied by her youma. He also meets another general named Gyousou, whose red eyes cause Taiki to feel uneasy. The narrative focuses on these interactions as Taiki navigates the arrival of potential candidates and the strange dynamics between the various generals present at this significant event.
