Ui and Azusa Nakano enroll as freshmen, resulting in Yui, Tsumugi, and Ritsu sharing a class while Mio is separated with Nodoka. The group endures teacher Sawako’s animal-themed promotion strategy, which backfires, before switching to tracksuits after discovering maid outfits hinder their playing. Azusa initially dismisses the light music club for lacking seriousness. During the freshman welcome assembly, Yui takes over vocals because Mio remains too shy to sing. Although Yui forgets the lyrics, Mio overcomes her embarrassment to support her performance. Ui brings Azusa to witness the show, and the moving experience convinces Azusa to finally join the club.
