Keima attempts to accelerate his bond with Jun by engineering hatred to transform into love, but the strategy backfires, leaving her more worried about him. After securing private time in class, Jun accuses Keima of using video games to escape reality, prompting him to rebuke her for imposing her own standards. With this approach unsuccessful, Keima seeks additional details about Jun from Nikaidō, who agrees to provide information in return for academic assistance. Meanwhile, stung by Keima’s earlier words, Jun attempts to motivate her classmates after Ichiro Kodama labels them failures. However, when the students admit a lack of drive, a frustrated Jun scolds them and leaves the room. Keima eventually discovers that both Jun and Nikaidō previously played on the girls' basketball team before it disbanded due to a past incident.
