Nishikata meets Takagi to walk a dog, which she lets him handle alone before returning it. Takagi shows him a photo she took, and they walk home together. Nishikata realizes he left his homework at school and returns there, avoiding Takagi to prevent his friends from seeing them. He encounters Mano and Nakai on the way. In the classroom, Takagi waits for him while Yukari, Mina, and Sanae discuss Christmas wishes. Sanae reveals her family does not exchange presents, causing Mina to react strongly. Sanae tries to explain that Santa is not real, but Yukari intervenes. Later, during library duty, Nishikata is surprised to learn Takagi can knit. When she mentions making an item for a 15-year-old boy, Nishikata becomes agitated. She clarifies the gift is for an elderly woman's dog.
