The newly formed Three Ships Alliance seeks refuge at the abandoned Mendel colony. However, their presence is discovered by both ZAFT and Earth Alliance military units. Rau Le Creuset leads the ZAFT fleet, while Captain Natarle Badgiruel commands the Earth Alliance assault ship Dominion. The Dominion takes the offensive, launching an attack with the specific objective of capturing either the Freedom or the Justice mobile suits. This confrontation forces the alliance to defend their position against superior firepower from two opposing factions simultaneously. The battle highlights the strategic tension between the two major powers as they vie for control over the advanced mobile suits hidden within the colony.
