Hajime identifies Yaoi Muranishi as the killer by analyzing the calendar and locates artifacts in a stone statue. Muranishi explains that Kyouko manipulated Shiro Munakata into marriage, destroyed his research, and died after a fight. Muranishi and Munakata became lovers, hiding Kyouko’s death and raising the baby as Kyouko’s daughter. Believing Yamato and Soga killed Shiro, a terminally ill Muranishi plotted revenge but was struck by lightning while holding the blade. In the present, the trio visits Majin Village. Satsuki reveals that Yaoi Munakata died ten days prior after spending six months in a prison hospital, having enjoyed that brief time together.
