Kuroko loses consciousness before the grand final between Teiko and Shige’s team. Upon waking, he cannot play and asks Akashi to ensure Teiko performs at their best. Bored by standard scoring rules, the team decides to play a different style of game. Kuroko arrives in time to see Murasakibara score the final goal for the opposing side, resulting in a score of 111 to 11. Devastated by this outcome, Kuroko decides to quit basketball. He visits Shige’s school, only to discover that Shige has transferred and intends to quit as well. A friend of Shige advises him not to give up, believing that Kuroko has the potential to melt the hearts of the Generation of Miracles.
