  Keitaro takes a semester off from Tokyo University and travels to America with Seta to visit various archaeological sites. During his absence, his step-sister Kanako arrives at the Hinata apartments and declares herself the new landlord, which irritates the other residents. She establishes numerous new rules, prompting the tenants to attempt breaking them in hopes of discovering her weakness. These rules are actually linked to a specific promise Keitaro made with his "little sister." Naru, remembering her own sister, attempts to help and defend Kanako, unaware that Kanako intends to drive her out. The episode concludes with Keitaro's return.

  Keitaro brings presents for Hinata residents after returning with Seta, initially mistaking Kanako for a new arrival before recognizing her childhood self. Kanako orchestrates fake errands to isolate Keitaro, escalating tension with Naru. Keitaro invites Naru to the abandoned annex, citing a legend that couples who stay overnight achieve eternal happiness. Naru, intending to help Kanako, sends her there but regrets the decision after Haruka explains the legend's potent magic. Keitaro remains unaware of his childhood promise to Kanako. In the darkness, he mistakes Kanako for Naru, leading Kanako to believe he loves her. When Keitaro realizes the truth, Naru arrives too late. A magical field surrounds the pair. Kanako claims a dropped ring proves Keitaro's love, while Keitaro offers a gift to Naru. Naru attempts to wear the ring, but it slips from her grasp.

Kanako lures Keitaro by impersonating Naru, prompting him to explain that he loves her only as a sister. This declaration breaks the annex's spell, transporting Keitaro and Kanako to the top floor. There, Keitaro apologizes for forgetting his promise to Kanako while reaffirming their sibling bond. Meanwhile, Naru navigates through her friends to reach the clock and retrieve a ring. She successfully confesses her love to Keitaro Urishima, with Moe assisting them as one of his promise girls.
