Ep. 23: Hypnotized Lupin seeks Tomoe while Zenigata pursues Mattea and the group investigates Mahiko Village.

Zenigata reveals Mattea stabbed Ariana and killed Hazel, showing Lupin a recording of his mother’s poem with a hypnotic suggestion. Lupin attacks Zenigata and escapes with Mattea’s help. Zenigata interviews Mercedes, linking Tomoe to Mahiko Village. Jigen and Goemon consult the Professor, who wants Lupin’s past, while Fujiko fails to reason with him. Hypnotized Lupin believes Tomoe is his biological mother, hiding this due to his grandfather, and thinks stolen safe contents prove parentage. He reaches the village and meets aging Tomoe, who faked her death using a dupe. Mattea arrives and shoots Lupin, who falls over a balcony. Tomoe explains she tutored women from various countries to carry a code in different languages to lead her son back to her. As Mattea prepares to kill Tomoe, a surprised Mattea sees Lupin return alive after surviving the gunshot, leading to a confrontation between the two.
