Hees, identified as the world's richest man, passes away under mysterious circumstances and bequeaths a large ruby to Fujiko in his will. Following the inheritance, Fujiko develops the same unexplained fever that claimed Hees's life. The gemstone was originally stolen from a cult temple located in the Caribbean. Lupin realizes he must return the ruby to the cult to cure Fujiko's condition. However, the cult members have their own plans for Lupin as he attempts to retrieve the artifact. The story focuses on the urgency of returning the cursed item to save Fujiko while evading the wrath of the religious group that originally possessed the ruby.
