Kaito Kid leaves a jewel that confuses the police, prompting Hakuba to find a hair strand as evidence. Analysis reveals the hair belongs to a high school student, leading Hakuba to suspect Kaito and issue an invitation after an all-nighter. Akako warns of a trap, but Kaito accepts the challenge. His identity is nearly exposed until Akako appears disguised as Kaito, flying on a broom. Spider captures Akako to eliminate the real Kaito but fails. Hakuba intervenes, revealing Spider is actually Gunter von Goldberg using a fake name. Spider escapes, and Hakuba fails to uncover Kaito Kid's true identity.
