Kyoko attempts to reach the absent Maison Ikkoku owner while tenants investigate rumors of the building's disappearance. Godai learns from Kozue that Mitsukoshi visits a realtor daily, prompting him and Mitaka to stake out the location. When Kyoko confronts Mitsukoshi, he claims nostalgia for his childhood home, a story Godai doubts. Mitsukoshi vanishes overnight, leaving only a telegram from his former employer. Later, Mitaka reveals Mitsukoshi quit his job investigating properties for demolition after bonding with the tenants. Though saddened by his departure, Kyoko feels relieved that Maison Ikkoku remains safe from danger.
