Following the Alviss confrontation, Ginta and his companions encounter Edward, a dog-man claiming to be the guardian of Princess Snow. She is currently on the run from her stepmother, a queen obsessed with ruling the world who repeatedly attempts to kill her stepdaughter. Edward asks for assistance in saving the princess, who is near death inside a frozen palace. Upon investigating, Ginta realizes the girl looks exactly like his friend Koyuki from Earth. The queen dispatches two minions, Ian and Loco, to hunt down the princess, revealing them to be the Chess Pieces. This encounter connects the princess's plight directly to Ginta's past and introduces new threats as the group prepares to intervene in the royal succession conflict.
