Following the events of Episode 1, Matsuo Bashō and his apprentice Sora proceed northward, crossing the Mogami River. Matsuo remains plagued by an inferiority complex and mistakenly believes he is strong enough to halt the river's flow. After discovering that Sora has sabotaged his teddy bear, Matsuo impulsively jumps into the rapid waters. This action triggers a severe decline in his mental state, resulting in unprecedented levels of insanity as the journey continues.
