Conan and Kogoro arrive at a mansion in Yonehana Town to find the body of writer Shintaro Tabun, who was shot dead. A rifle is discovered in his study, but no witnesses are present. His disciples, Naoya Akaike and Miyuki Izukawa, are the first to find the body. Four other disciples, including Ryunosuke Oto and Haruo Chigasaki, are also involved. As their stories are heard, it is revealed that Tabun's works were actually written by his disciples, who hold a grudge against him.
