The Detective Boys follow musicians to a candy shop where they receive strange plums, but Conan remains aloof and leaves after a dispute. He accidentally bumps into an elderly man who claims to have seen an "omurice corpse." The old man drags Conan to the abandoned Jurakudai restaurant, which Conan recalls visiting three months ago with Ran. He remembers the chef's theatrical cooking style and his own refusal to order the special kids' lunch. Conan deduces the old man witnessed Ran eating omurice at that time. He notices a photo of himself on the door and realizes the old man is connected to the restaurant's past. Conan identifies the old man by a badge, leading to a tense confrontation as the mystery deepens.
