After identifying the victim as Norihiro Shimada, Conan and the group examine the scene. Inspector Yamamura initially suspects suicide due to Shimada's timid nature, believing jumping from the bridge was a plausible act. Conan remains unconvinced and inspects the body, noticing the scarf is cheap and crude, unlike the victim's expensive clothing. He instructs Yamamura to remove it, revealing a strangulation mark underneath. Although Yamamura considers self-strangulation possible, Kogoro dismisses this idea and confidently declares the death a murder.
