Ep. 1149: Detective Boys and Leaders Part Two Unravels the Grapefruit Juice Murder Mystery

Sango notes that unverified alibis implicate all suspects, while Menda argues that strangling Usui would have awakened Kooriyama. Conan questions Menda about her Nifedipine medication and Kooriyama’s grapefruit juice consumption. He deduces that Kooriyama fell asleep because someone mixed Nifedipine into his drink via a straw, a method that failed for others using iced cups with larger straws. Kooriyama recalls a strange taste and accuses Menda, who claims her medicine was stolen, pointing suspicion at Kooriyama or Kayaki. Rumi notes Haibara’s medical knowledge stems from Professor Agasa. Tsukumo discovers the victim’s towel came from the hut seats where the Detective Boys sat. Genta’s ripped swimsuit reminds Ayumi of ancient Rome, prompting Conan to recall a related memory. Forensics reveal Kooriyama’s fingerprints and palm prints on the towel. Although Kooriyama denies involvement, Sango cites signs of Usui’s resistance. Conan counters that Kooriyama likely did not consume the drugged juice, as no one would remain in a murder room, and all straws were discarded. The group identifies the culprit, but Kooriyama makes a private call.
