Tourists discover the body of Yoshimi Hidaka, a forestry representative, near the Jomon Cedar. Two weeks later, Taisei Hidaka hires the Mouri family to investigate after police fail to identify the killer among four suspects. The list includes Ryoya Kitabeppu, who led the tour and argued with the victim; Taro Tsukada, whose engagement was canceled due to cheating; Kasumi Kokusho, Yoshimi’s best friend; and Yuji Yamamoto, who was caught stalking her. The family must determine which of these individuals is responsible for the murder on the island.
