The Detective Boys and Dr. Agasa visit a theatre scheduled for demolition, meeting owner Akio Muramatsu and employees Minoru Furuhashi and Yuriko Tomosato. Sadistic real estate agent Seiji Haruta arrives to announce the building's destruction. During the second Gomera film, Seiji terrorizes the audience before being attacked from behind, his scream lost in the noise. Haibara senses a chill, student Toshiyuki Ide is caught bootlegging the movie, and a shadow appears on screen. When lights return, Seiji is found hanging near the projector. Conan identifies murder despite strong alibis. Mitsuhiko notes Yuriko looking in a mirror, leading Conan to suspect she is hiding the truth.
