Kogoro, Ran, and Conan visit a five-story pagoda and are invited to dinner by the manager as guests of the temple, facilitated by the Great Detective Moore. The following morning, the manager, who intended to develop the site into a tourist attraction, is found dead hanging from the top floor, a scene mirroring the local legend. While initial suspicions suggest suicide, Conan discovers the manager's tie clip at the end of the episode, confirming it was murder. He determines that only one of four individuals present could be responsible for the crime.
