Vi discloses that the firearm is a replica and warns Conan about the Black Organization's danger. She explains that concealing his identity from Ran is cruel, yet revealing it puts his friends at risk, offering a third solution. The following day, Conan watches Ran's play featuring a mysterious black knight. During the performance, Kouhei Mazuda dies after ingesting potassium cyanide. Heiji, disguised as Jimmy, tries to deceive Ran but is caught by Kirsten. After dropping the disguise, Heiji identifies the suspects as Mazuda's friends and the beverage vendor.
