Ayumi realizes Black retains her Detective Badge, enabling Conan to track the signal so Sato can establish a roadblock. The kidnappers evade capture because their vehicle is disguised as a police car. Conan deciphers the message P & A, noting that alphabetizing the letters spells "panda." He deduces Black is referencing the black and white colors of a panda in relation to police cars. Recognizing the kidnappers are armed, Conan devises a safe rescue plan for Black. Police officers stage a car chase to slowly surround the kidnappers' vehicle. They suddenly break formation, catching the criminals off guard and apprehending them. Black vanishes before questioning and is driven away by the mysterious Shuichi Akai.
