The Detective Boys discover Minoru Shirai dead at a pet shop, finding a Rhinoceros beetle and pamphlets for a Gunma Prefecture insect museum. Takagi takes them there, where they learn a truckload of Rhinoceros beetles was stolen from a van. Conan deduces that Shirai and an accomplice were the thieves, with the accomplice committing the murder. Identifying the culprit as a museum employee, Conan tranquilizes Yamamura and exposes Takashi Ishida. He explains that evidence on Shirai's body indicated strangulation by a museum strap inside the van. Additionally, Conan reveals a message from Ishida's phone proving he was selling the stolen beetles. Ishida confesses, stating Shirai had always insulted him.
