While shopping, Ran and Conan encounter Sachiko, who claims she is buying steak for a lover. Later, they discover she has been murdered. Although suspicion initially falls on her lover, the crime scene reveals that only the steak was eaten and no fingerprints other than Sachiko's were present. It is eventually uncovered that her lover actually died in a climbing accident, and she had been honoring his memory on the 25th of every month for the past year and a half. Takagi, Ran, and Conan confront the true killer, who confesses to the crime after being rejected by Sachiko.
