Conan, Ran, and Kogoro visit a hot springs lodge where guest Harumi requests Kogoro to investigate a five-year-old case. Her friend was accused of drug trafficking and subsequently committed suicide, but Harumi insists on her innocence. She suspects two other guests are the true culprits. Subsequently, two women are murdered in locked rooms that evoke the legend of a vengeance goddess. Ema is discovered dead in a shrine surrounded by Long Sleeve Kimonos, while Asuka is found killed in the women's hot spring amidst scattered Obis.
