Conan observes that footprints near the shrine are unusually shallow and spots a crack in the ceiling above the hot spring. Using these clues alongside other evidence, he reconstructs the method used to fabricate an alibi. He then identifies the perpetrator and clarifies their connection to an incident that occurred five years prior. After tranquilizing Kogoro to solve the case independently, Conan waits for him to regain consciousness. Disoriented upon waking, Kogoro accidentally falls into the hot spring.
