Abe Yutaka hires Kogoro to protect his friend Negishi Masaki for three days. Masaki is found dead from severe burns during the annual Fire Festival, and Yutaka receives over $5 million in insurance money. Kogoro suspects Yutaka, who claims a business trip alibi. Conan analyzes photos and reveals Yutaka plans to flee Japan. He arranges a meeting at the airport with Inspector Megure. Conan exposes the alibi by proving Masaki was killed before the trip and a lookalike was used. Yutaka confesses but refuses arrest. Conan records the admission and threatens police exposure. An angry Yutaka attacks Conan, who kicks a tire to stop him. Yutaka is arrested after the recording is heard by authorities.
