Conan and Ran befriend couples owning dogs named Musashi and Coeur. Neighbor Yoriko Nakatani hires Kogoro to investigate Musashi’s aggression, suspecting the owners upset him. The next day, Nakatani’s mother-in-law is found dead with bite marks on her throat. Conan struggles with the case until Coeur discovers a clay model of a dog’s jaw, revealing the murder method. Police confirm Nakatani used the model to puncture the victim’s throat, while Musashi’s mouth blood resulted from licking the wound. Nakatani confesses, explaining her motive stemmed from her mother-in-law’s public criticism regarding her son’s choice of wife.
